We had a lot of visitors this summer! In June my in-laws came to visit. In July my sister-in-law and her soon-to-be hubby came out. And in August my parents came to visit. It has been a super fun summer and I loved having them all here to show around and go on some new fun adventures together!
Things calmed down a bit in September and it’s back to being just my little family, including my husband Wes and our two dogs Linkin and Story. I got my home office back, published my book, and have been enjoying the Fall weather here in Oregon!
I love my little family of 4! Even though we have been married (and had our dogs) for over 5 years now, we haven’t really had the chance to create our own little family traditions. This will be the first time that we will be away from our families for the Holidays (although we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in Florida with the whole fam). But, October, November, and December have always felt like one big holiday to me and I am looking forward to creating our own little Fall Banks Family Traditions.
So far, we have gone apple picking, and plan on hitting up the Fall Festival this weekend. We have already started talking about some Christmas traditions to start this year. Monkey bread may or may not be included (definitely will be).
Now I would love to know what some of your Fall family traditions are?! Leave a comment below and let me know!
Today, I am excited to wrap up the best reads from Fit Life Pursuits in September (spoiler…I liked them all). Plus, an update on how I did with my September goals and fill you in on my new October goals! I love setting goals for myself, do you?!

September Favorites from Fit Life Pursuits
In case you missed anything here at Fit Life Pursuits, here’s a little recap of some of my favorite articles on the site in September:
A Magical Visit to Paulina Falls and Lake
I started off September on the blog with a recap of our visit to Paulina Falls and Lake with my parents. It was so unexpected and so beautiful! It’s a short hike to see the Falls. they ended up being way more impressive than I thought they would be. Paulina Lake is a hidden gem that I can’t wait to explore some more! There is this adorable little lodge on the lake with cabins, a restaurant, and boat rentals. It was like living in a dream.
Dancing as an Adult: Cize Review
Last month I led an online challenge with some ladies doing the brand new Shaun T workout called Cize. It is a hip-hop dance workout that you can do at home and it was a lot of fun! For those who like to dance, or would like to learn how to dance, this program is a must! If you missed it, check out what I thought!
I am a Liebster Award Nominee
My blog was nominated for the Liebster Award this month and I was super excited! I was asked to answer 11 questions about myself and my blog. It was so much fun and appreciated!
How Nature Makes You a Better Person
This has been one of my most favorite blog posts to date! I dove into some research and really discovered that Mother Nature truly is life’s best medicine! I have seen so many benefits of getting outside and was thrilled to share them with you! If you missed it, be sure to check it out!
I Dare You
I published a book!! I am so excited about The Food Dare because I know it is going to change so many lives! It has only been available for a little over a week and I have already seen such a great response! If you need some help creating healthy eating habits, be sure to check it out! What’s more, I have created Food Dare Teams to give you additional accountability and support. There is no way you won’t succeed in creating a healthy lifestyle with this program!
My September Progress
Here’s an update on how I did with my September goals:
- Help women get fit through my Live Fit Training Program. Success! This one is really exciting! I have several ladies who are currently in Week 3 of my Live Fit Training Program! They are doing incredible! They are learning healthy eating habits, working out consistently, losing pounds and inches, and one even signed up for her very first 5K! I’m so proud and looking forward to seeing how much more they accomplish in the next 3 weeks!
- Try something new. Success! I did two new things this past month! One was an all-womens’ mountain bike outing with the “Dirt Divas” that kicked my butt! And, as I mentioned before…I also got to go apple picking in September! Two new things! Woohoo!
- Eat less sugar. Fail! I just did not do well with this one at all! Sugar is a huge weakness for me. I’m gonna keep working on it though! Who’s with me?
- Stretch more. Success! I have been taking an extra 5-10 minutes after my workouts to stretch and it feels so good! I have a long way to go until I get to my splits again, but I’m workin on it!
- Successful launch of The Food Dare. Success! The Food Dare was published on Amazon on September 22nd and it is doing really well! I have had a lot of great feedback from fellow healthy living bloggers, fitness pros, and readers! I want to also give a big Thank You to my Food Dare Launch Team! I couldn’t have done it without these fellow bloggers who really stepped up to help me get the word out!

My October Goals
As always, I have set some new goals for myself for the month of October! Always got to keep pushing towards something, right?
- Complete Booty Challenge. I am hosting a 13-day Booty Challenge starting October 5th for women who want to learn how to tone, tighten, and shape their bums! I’m looking forward to it! Go here to join! It’s free!
- Grow The Food Dare Teams. Like I mentioned, The Food Dare is not just a book, it is also a complete program with support “teams”! You can get all the healthy eating resources you need in one place. I am excited to help these teams grow this month! Go here to join a team!
- Stretch more. This was on my list last month, but I want to continue with it. Somewhere along the way of my fitness journey I started ignoring stretching and have lost a lot of flexibility. I’m ready to get that back, and stretching feels so good!
- Eat well on roadtrip. We leave for our cross-country roadtrip in the end of October and I know it’s going to be a challenge in the food department. On our last roadtrip, I started off pretty good and then lost all food control about half way through! My goal this time is to continue with the smart food choices the whole way through.
- Live Fit Training Round #2. I am beginning a new round of the Live Fit Training program on October 26th and I am excited about helping another group of ladies get fit and healthy! If you’d like in on the next round, get the info here.
