The Fall season went by so fast! Probably because I spent most of my Fall this year either on the road or visiting family in Florida. After doing some early Fall apple picking and enjoying the pretty colors of Oregon for the first time, my husband and I, and our two dogs Linkin and Story headed out on our second cross-country roadtrip of the year driving 5000 miles from Oregon to Florida!

Fall in Florida
We left for our roadtrip in October 22nd, spent 17 days on the road, and arrived at our final destination…Bradenton, Florida on November 9th. We spent the next 3 weeks of the Fall season spending time with family, enjoying the warm weather of Florida, and celebrating much!
The first weekend we arrived, my sister-in-law got married! It was a beautiful wedding and a lot of fun!
Her reception was at the same place (Riverhouse Reef and Grill) that Wesley and I got married back in 2010, so it was nice to reminisce. It was just as perfect of a spot as I remember!
The very next day we went to the church I grew up in and watching us my nephew Colin was dedicated to the Lord. He is such a cutie and it was so much fun to be able to spend time with him. Selfie time!
While in Florida we also enjoyed some amazing seafood. I think I had fish tacos 3 times from various places when I was there!
And, of course some gorgeous sunsets right out my parent’s back door!
One of my best friend’s Valerie was awesome enough to plan her Bachelorette party while I was in Florida so I could go! We cruised on a yacht along the inter-coastal of St. Augustine and enjoyed some quality girls time. It was a little chilly that day (at least for Florida) and Valerie had gotten all the girls a Mexican blanket. It ended up being perfect!
Thanksgiving
We got to spend Thanksgiving with the whole family at my dad’s ranch in Myakka, Florida. We each made a dish (or two) to bring and had a fun time out in the fresh air.
My dad is so cute. He hooked his trailer up to his tractor, filled it with some hay and took people on hay rides. It’s a 100-acre property so there’s lots to see. You’ll definitely find some cows and an alligator in the pond. You may also be lucky to see some deer, turkey, owls, or hogs roaming around.
We did some four-wheeling…
…And of course took some Thanksgiving family pictures by the tractor
Mock Christmas
We did not stay in Florida for Christmas. Wesley and his dad left the day after Thanksgiving to drive back to Oregon on their father/son roadtrip and I hung around a few extra days to spend some extra time with my family. But, not before we had a little Christmas celebration with my family. We opened presents from each other and enjoyed a Christmas meal.
Our real Christmas was spent just the four of us back in Bend, Oregon. We started some new traditions together as our little family, including making sugar cookies! I sincerely hope we improve our skills over the next few years! It was a fun tradition all the same. I thought you’d get a kick out of the picture
Fall To-Do List Update
Back in September I created a Fall To-Do list of 13 things I hoped to accomplish this Fall season. Being away from home most of the Fall made some of these tasks challenging. Here is how I did:
- Make apple butter
- Climb Tumalo mountain
- Run in a 5K for charity
See Mount RushmoreEat deep dish pizza in ChicagoMake monkey breadRead See Me by Nicholas Sparks- Bike
around Washington D.C. Go to the beach- Go “screenless” for a day (no phone, computer, TV)
- Get a facial (never had one before!)
See Niagra Falls- Take an aerial yoga class
7 out of 13 is not so bad. I am definitely going to keep the rest on my to-do list to accomplish in 2016!
How was your Fall this year? Did you accomplish anything great?
